During Tokyo Game Show 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds confirmed that Title Update 3, highlighted by the Final Fantasy 14 crossover event, will launch on Monday, September 29. Additionally, Monster Hunter Wilds teased fans by confirming that a returning Elder Dragon, Gogmazios, would arrive in Title Update 4 in December.
The Monster Hunter Wilds portion of the Final Fantasy 14 crossover event will introduce a hunt against Omega Planetes, based on one of the Final Fantasy franchise’s most notorious superbosses. Omega Planetes’ attacks will be based on the ones utilized by its Final Fantasy 14 counterpart, including Delta Attack and various projectiles. On the other side of the collaboration, Final Fantasy 14 players will face Guardian Arkveld starting in early October. FF14 players can earn weapons based on Guardian Arkveld and other cosmetic rewards once the event goes live.
Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals More Title Update 3 Details
Over a month after the FF14 crossover was revealed at Gamescom, Monster Hunter Wilds fans will soon have some new content to enjoy. During Capcom’s spotlight event at Tokyo Game Show 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds stated that Title Update 3 will launch on Monday, September 29, which will include the Final Fantasy 14 collaboration content. Ergo, players must download and install a content patch that will be released on that same day. Players must reach Hunter Rank 41 or above and complete the main mission, “What Lies Ahead,” to face Omega Planetes.
Rewards include the Dark Knight’s weapon and armor, and the Soul of the Pictomancer item. Equipping the Bale Armor α set will allow hunters to use The Blackest Night, which will sacrifice some health to shield the user. The Shadowbringer great sword grants its wielder a powerful weapon skill. As for the Soul of the Pictomancer, players can use it to wield a paintbrush and cast spells like Creature Motif and Mog of the Ages. Additional rewards from the FF14 collaboration include a Morbol Seedling minion and a Chocobo-based skin for the Seikret.
Title Update 3 will also include the Festival of Accord: Dreamspell seasonal event, new emotes and Palico armor, and a new quest featuring Arch-Tempered Nu Udra. The hunt for Arch-Tempered Nu Udra starts on October 22. The show also teased fans with the return of Gogmazios, a volcanic Elder Dragon, as part of December’s Title Update 4. Gogmazios first appeared in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on the 3DS, a game that was praised for its combat.
Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show spotlight is just part of its busy fall schedule, as the company will also host a 90-minute showcase on October 10 at New York Comic-Con. What surprises Capcom has planned for Monster Hunter Wilds moving forward remains to be seen.
